Astrology 101

One of the most intriguing subjects I've ever researched is astrology. Its origins are unknown, but it's supposedly said to have possibly started in places like Egypt, Greece and Rome. It's basically the study of the planets' positions at the exact time and place a person was born, creating what's know as a birth chart. Everyone's chart is different and there are several aspects to it. The most common aspect emphasized it your sun sign, or what astrological sign the sun was in when you were born. There are 12 sun signs each with its own characteristics that shape your personality. For instance, I was born under the sign of Virgo, and they tend to analyze things and can sometimes be critical. As you can see this is very true in my case. However, it sometimes happens that one may say "That sun sign description doesn't fit me." You have to analyze the entire birth chart at that point. Virgos are supposed to be neat and organized. I hate to say this but in my past I've had a problem with clutter, which is so not like my sign. I have been taking steps to get rid of it because deep down it drives me crazy. When I actually try, I can be very organized. At the time I was born the moon was in Gemini. Geminis can have two personalities, and like mental stimulation. They can be very changable at times. This might help to explain my restlessness and my tendancy to get bored easily. It's like I'm forever searching for something exciting and different and I enjoy conversations with people who actually have something to say, as opposed to someone who doesn't have a clue about anything. Call me a snob if you must. I can't help it sometimes, and I have a birth chart to prove it. There are also those that are born on the first or last day of a particular sign, which is called a cusp. I have read that you can have traits of two signs if you are born 4 days before or after a particular sign begins. For example, my oldest son was born September 24th. Technically he is a Libra. He seeks balance and justice in all ways.Let me tell you this kid can argue if he thinks you're being unfair. Fairness seems to be a fetish with him. At the same time, he's an extremely picky eater, very common of Virgo, the sign right before his. Virgos can be very meticulous about things. I can't count how many times I've had to change something about my cooking to suit his preferences. I've told him that I'm not a restaurant, I'm his mother and this is supper. I don't believe in waiting hand and foot on my children. It makes for spoiled brats. None the less he is who he is and I try to keep this in mind when I prepare meals.
As you can see astrology has a lot to do with who we are and who we're meant to be. It helps me understand more about myself, my children, to name a few people. For those of you seeking to understand yourselves I highly recommend you have a professional birth chart done.
